Elbow feels that the writer and the academic have many differences. The one from this reading that stands out the most to me is the question of how much to read. Elbow thinks that there should be an equal balance of reading and writing in a literacy course in order to make the writer want to be part of the academic. However, he feels that the academic are readers. From what I understand Elbow feels that he can see what the writers are learning and their possible goals better through writing than through reading something. He feels that the important readings are important but that writing kind of surpasses them. He also states that he would like to see more academic become writers so they better understand.

stan4562 on paragraph 1:

I agree with Elbows comment about how you can get a lot more out of someones writing than giving them ideas in assigned readings. My final post changed from the first one a lot. I didn’t really like my original difference that I picked so I re-read the reading and felt more connected with this one!
